Born in Tehran, Iran in 1956 Farzan Navab came to the United States in 1976 to study art. He has a bachelor's degree in Media Studies from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and has lived and worked in Minneapolis for over thirty years. His work has been exhibited among other places, at The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the University of Minnesota, the Chicago Art Institute, the Visual Studies Workshop and the Pacific Film Archives. Farzan's origins is in documentary filmmaking, having studied under Martin Fierro in the late seventies when he was making a film in Minneapolis. Later, Farzan pursued other interests studying art under Herbert Quain, Bill Harrigan and Emma Zunz among others. The work on this website represents Farzan Navab's experiments with photographic constructions that he began making in the mid 1980s.
